Larry Trimboli owns Sierra Log & Timber, designs the homes and mills the cedar they are built from, and has done both since 1994. Every article on this blog carries his name because he did the work it describes.
The work, since 1994
Larry has been designing and milling log and timber homes since 1994. He is the owner and designer at Sierra Log & Timber, the cedar mill in Chico, California, and the species on the saw is incense cedar, which the mill cuts into log and timber home packages.
The business he runs spans architectural design, manufacturing at the Chico mill, lumber yard distribution and heavy wood hardware. Design runs through his own drafting table: custom homes drawn to a client's layout, and the mill's own catalogue models.
Why every article here is signed
There are no ghostwriters on this blog and no content farm. A byline here is a claim that the person named did the work described, and Larry is happy to be rung up about it: if something in an article does not match what you are seeing on your own build, call the mill and ask for him.
Before an article is written he is interviewed about the subject, and every number in the finished piece has to appear in that interview or in a source cited on the article itself. An article that cannot pass that check does not get published.
Beyond the mill
In 2026 the mill built and gave away a county by county landowner resource directory for California, Oregon, Washington and beyond, connecting rural property owners with free chipping days, defensible space visits and forest health grants. The two articles announcing it are on this blog, signed like everything else.
